In a landmark achievement, the international partnership behind the EYES project has emerged victorious in securing funding under the prestigious Erasmus+ Virtual Exchange call. With a total budget of €433,600, the Empowering Youth: Erasmus Plus Virtual Exchange for Active Citizenship and Social Inclusion (EYES) project is set to launch an innovative 36-month initiative from 2025 to 2027.
A Collaborative Vision for Global Impact
EYES is a groundbreaking initiative designed to foster social inclusion, active citizenship, and sustainable development among young people from Europe and Sub-Saharan Africa. The project brings together eight dynamic organizations from Spain, Italy, Greece, Turkey, Ghana, Nigeria, Cameroon, and Gabon. Each partner—ranging from ABARKA ONGDand Associazione Stella Marina APS to AIESEC Alumni Ghana and WebDev Foundation—contributes its unique expertise to create a truly transnational platform for intercultural dialogue and capacity building.
Innovative Components and Ambitious Objectives
At its core, the EYES project is structured around three strategic pillars:
Online Mentor Training: Selected facilitators will undergo comprehensive training to lead engaging discussions and support effective virtual exchanges, ensuring that every session is both inclusive and transformative.
Monthly Online Facilitated Discussions: Through 24 interactive sessions, participants aged 18-30 will explore critical themes such as migration and rural exodus, youth unemployment and education, social and solidarity economy, sustainable development goals, and mental health. These discussions are designed to stimulate creative problem-solving, enhance digital skills, and empower young people to become proactive change agents.
Capacity Building for Youth Workers: Recognizing the importance of professional development, the project will also offer specialized training courses for youth workers, equipping them with the necessary tools and methodologies to design and implement successful virtual exchange projects in their communities.
A Global, Accessible Approach
One of the project’s most innovative features is its fully online format. By leveraging state-of-the-art digital platforms, EYES breaks down geographical barriers and invites participation from every corner of the globe. This accessibility not only amplifies the diversity of perspectives but also ensures that the exchange of experiences and best practices is both effective and far-reaching. Participants can engage seamlessly through virtual meetings, webinars, and interactive training sessions, creating a vibrant community of empowered youth and dedicated youth workers.
Driving Intercultural Dialogue and Sustainable Development
The EYES project is more than a training program—it is a catalyst for change. By addressing pressing issues such as high youth unemployment, the challenges of migration, and the need for robust civic engagement, the initiative aims to create sustainable impact and contribute to stronger EU-Africa relations. The project’s comprehensive approach ensures that participants not only gain valuable digital and intercultural skills but also build lasting networks that foster collaboration, innovation, and social cohesion.
